 Hello Dear Ones,
February is the month when many of us think of romantic love. Valentines Day is in a few days away, and the stores are decked out with red and pink hearts. In this month it seems Eros, who we now call Cupid, flies around shooting his magic arrows. When one of his arrows pierces a heart, it is said to make people quite goofy with romance. Or what we refer to in Core Energetics, as Eros. Eros is part of the stream we call the Life Force. It's powerful!
Core Energetics founder, John Pierrakos, MD, was a very loving man. His heart was big and he was full of Eros for life.. He had a laugh, and usually a kiss, for everyone. On Jan 30, 2001, John died in the morning, with a smile on his face. He was preparing to go to his office, and he simply lay down on his bed, fully clothed, and left his body. Those who knew him well thought he was probably communicating with Eva, his deceased wife, as he often did in meditation. She had come to guide him Home.
Eva and John had a wonderful marriage and beautiful relationship, which was a role model for many of us who grew up in Core Energetics.
John’s love, sweetness and passion for his wife never dwindled even after Eva’s death.  You may read my tribute to John, by clicking here

Sexual Intimacy: (Tiger Woods and Most Others Don’t Have a Clue)

 We go crazy for information about famous people’s dalliances, and often become like sharks in a feeding frenzy for details. Why do we do this? I think we are so bored by our lack of life, lack of energy, and lack of true love, that we feed off these soap opera stories to get some feeling back into our bodyminds? But for lasting satisfaction, we need to look inward – to discover what we are doing and who we really are.
Statistics show that more couples divorce, have affairs, or sink into sexless marriages now than in years past. Most of us don’t know what makes our sexual relationships truly intimate. Or what the glue is that holds relationships together.
Here’s the secret: The glue becomes stickier when we reveal our human process to our partner. The answer is simple, but doing the process and sharing our deepest thoughts and feelings is not so easy. We’ve taught ourselves to be defended. Many of us are so stuck in our defenses that we need assistance to break free.
Sex is about intimacy. Sexual contact is not only about orgasms. It is mostly about loving someone enough to be REAL with them. For true love to blossom, we must be willing to be undefended - that is - willing to show our total selves, most especially the parts that we don’t like, cause us fear, and/or are ashamed of.
 Our culture is obsessed with romance. We sing about it, eat and sleep that ‘first flood of relationship feeling’ epitomized by Eros. In case you forgot, he’s that little chubby cherub who shoots arrows into hearts and makes us expand and lose our minds. It feels great to expand, and we hardly ever let go of our minds (and it finally feels good to let go of control), so we keep looking for Eros time again because it always goes underground or hides after a relationship begins to ripen. Have you noticed that Eros fades almost always after marriage or formal commitment is made?
Eros is fun, is a necessary beginning to true intimacy and love. But it is not love. Love comes later after we walk through the underworld of our primal emotions. Love is our beautiful reward for being willing to stay the course and transform our demons. Love is about intimacy with no faking it. No lies to self or others.
We seek intimacy. We long for intimacy. We are afraid of intimacy because it takes delving into our darkest places.
And hey, we must find this energy first by digging into the places we hide from ourselves, then feeling and expressing them. And since we avoided those places, because they originally caused us some degree of pain, we still avoid them. Therefore, not allowing ourselves to get what we really want now. Intimate Love.
Wise people have said throughout the ages that sexuality is sacred and in its purity, when we are real and open, it is the closest thing on earth to experiencing God.

To become real and open, we must go deeper than who we think we are and who we were taught to be by caretakers who had their own agenda and their own fears. By finding and expressing the parts we have always defended, we can transform them to Alive Pleasure. The pleasure that comes from being our most authentic selves is satisfying and joyful.
What you can do to get your sexual intimacy process moving.
Practice Being Undefended! 1) Tell your partner what is really going on in your mind and emotions. 2) When having a physical connection, stay in the moment.3) Sex is about communication. 4) Communication is about intimacy 5) Ask for what you want. 6) Reveal what scares you about sex in the moment. 7) When scared ask for a breather, or stop and try again tomorrow. 7) Don’t take it so seriously.8) Laugh.
Sorry Tiger, you are in pain and you suffer because you are looking in the wrong place for your happiness. You and many of us look to the next person to fulfill our longing for real intimate sexuality and love. It is found within ourselves.

 To love another we must love ourselves; we must heal the split within. Eros, sexuality, and love – especially love –present the possibility of unifying the masculine and feminine within each one of us and at the same time allow us to unify our soul with another being. This is the path toward unifying our dualistic state.

Through self-revelation. As we disclose ever deeper truths about ourselves—our fears, our inadequacies, our faults – we open our soul to our beloved in new and exciting ways. This is the excitement that keeps Eros alive.
The choice to love is a creative act which expresses not only the will but also intelligence and emotion.
Eros strikes from without, love comes from within; Eros is of the moment, love endures.
The great human tragedy is the fear of experiencing love.

In order to love the personality must be explored; we must look for the hidden, negative attitudes. It is impossible to establish love without revealing and transforming these attitudes of the lower self. Exposing the lower self is a challenge of the highest order…
